Taiwan's Minister Lin Chia-lung recently unveiled an exciting collaboration between EVA Air and LOT Polish Airlines, Poland's national carrier, to launch codeshare flight services. The announcement was made during a business luncheon in Warsaw, aimed at deepening ties between Taiwan and Poland.
The agreement will allow EVA Air to offer indirect flights connecting Taiwan and Poland via the codeshare partnership with LOT Polish Airlines. Lin emphasized the importance of this venture in fostering stronger people-to-people and commercial connections between the two nations. However, details regarding the launch timeline for the codeshare flights have yet to be disclosed.
The luncheon was attended by prominent representatives from Taiwanese businesses, including Foxconn, Chunghwa Telecom, Chimei Corp., and Taiwan Optical Platform. Andrzej Dycha, head of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, also praised Taiwan as a vital partner for Poland, especially as the country pivots toward industries like artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
Lin highlighted Taiwan's commitment to strengthening trade relations with Poland and other European Union countries, underscoring the shared values of democracy and freedom between the two sides.
Taiwan's Support for Ukraine
In addition to enhancing ties with Poland, Taiwan continues its efforts to support Ukraine amidst its conflict with Russia. On the same day, Taiwan donated over 2,600 laptops and power generation equipment to the Association of Ukrainian Cities. The donation aims to aid educational initiatives for schoolchildren across 580 Ukrainian cities.
The donation ceremony, held in Uzhhorod, Ukraine, was attended by Lin and Bohdan Andriiv, the city's mayor. While Lin did not specify the number of power generators included in the donation, the initiative highlights Taiwan's ongoing support for Ukraine.
Further support came from ASUS, a Taiwan-based computer manufacturer, which announced plans to donate additional laptops to Ukraine in the coming year, though details remain forthcoming.
This partnership between Taiwan and Poland, alongside Taiwan's humanitarian contributions to Ukraine, demonstrates the country's commitment to fostering international collaboration and supporting global stability.
