Koskisen, a leading wood products company, is significantly expanding its presence in Poland by investing approximately €3 million in Kore, a business specializing in interior solutions for light commercial vehicles. This investment will enhance production capabilities through the acquisition of advanced machinery, including CNC machines and other essential equipment. The strategic move includes the establishment of a new production unit in Skwierzyna, Poland, alongside securing long-term leases for already completed production facilities.
Doubling Production Capacity
The new production unit will significantly increase Kore’s production facilities from 3,000 m³ to 8,000 m³, more than doubling its current capacity. This expansion will support Kore’s efforts to broaden its product range and extend its market reach.
“Expanding the Kore business is a key growth path in our updated strategy, aiming for profitable growth through new products and customers,” says Tom-Peter Helenius, Director of Panel Industry at Koskisen.
Responding to Market Demands
The decision to invest in the new production unit is driven by several market factors, including rising logistics demands, the expansion of e-commerce deliveries, and the shift towards electrification. These trends have increased the need for light commercial vehicles, subsequently boosting demand for wood panels used in their equipment and interior solutions.
“The investment will significantly enhance Kore’s competitiveness and value addition for our customers, establishing it as a significant player in its primary market area in Europe,” notes Jori Silfverberg, Director of the Kore business.
Expanding Product Offerings
Kore’s product line includes floor and lining components, wheel arches, and accessories for light commercial vehicles made from plywood and other materials, all manufactured according to customer specifications.
Growing Workforce
Koskisen began producing interior solutions for light commercial vehicles under the Kore brand in Toporów, Poland, in 2010. The current production unit employs around 70 people, and the new unit in Skwierzyna is expected to require an additional 30-40 employees. Kore is part of Koskisen’s Panel Industry segment.
Commitment to Sustainable Growth
This strategic expansion underscores Koskisen’s commitment to sustainable growth and operational excellence, positioning the company to meet evolving market demands and enhance its competitive edge in the European market.
