Symmetrica, a leading Romanian manufacturer of concrete pavements, curbs, and vibro-pressed gutters for pedestrian and roadway use, announces a significant EUR 48 million investment in the establishment of a state-of-the-art concrete pavements facility. Positioned in Bolintin Vale, a strategic location near Bucharest, the plant is set to commence operations this autumn, marking a notable expansion in Symmetrica's manufacturing capabilities.
The investment, amounting to 48 million euros (approximately $51.8 million), signifies the construction of the largest concrete pavements factory in southeastern Europe, according to Symmetrica's announcement on Thursday. This facility represents the largest in Symmetrica's extensive portfolio and is poised for inauguration in the coming months.
To support this ambitious project, Symmetrica has secured a 35 million euro loan from BCR, part of the Erste Group and a leading financial institution in Romania.
Upon completion, this factory is expected to enhance Symmetrica's total production capacity by 30%, with a daily output potential of 15,000 square meters. Initially, the factory will feature four manufacturing lines, along with additional lines dedicated to surface processing, special treatments, and the splitting of concrete blocks.
Spanning over 120,000 square meters, with an 18,000 square meter built-up area, the new facility will also host two photovoltaic parks on a 20,000 square meter plot. These solar parks are designed to supply 60% of the energy needed for the factory's operations, underscoring Symmetrica's commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices.
Since its inception in 1999, Symmetrica has established a robust presence in Romania, with production sites in Suceava, Iasi, Brasov, Bistrita-Nasaud, Vrancea, Arad, Constanta, and near Bucharest. This new investment near Bucharest is set to further cement Symmetrica's position as a leader in the production of concrete paving solutions in the region.
