Polyfoam Kft, a leading Hungarian manufacturer of polyethylene (PE) foam, has announced the expansion of its production facility in Budapest, backed by a €4.5 million investment. The upgrade includes the addition of a new 3,000 square meter production hall and the launch of a dedicated research and development (R&D) center, aimed at driving product innovation and improving manufacturing efficiency.
The expansion is expected to create 40 new jobs, increasing Polyfoam’s workforce to over 240 employees.
Driving Growth Through Innovation and Export
Polyfoam, a subsidiary of Japan-based Trocellen Group, has been active in Hungary since 1984. The company serves multiple sectors including automotive, construction, and sports equipment manufacturing, supplying high-performance foam solutions tailored to a wide range of industrial applications.
“After years of flat growth, we’re seeing positive momentum again,” said Sándor Pluhár, Executive Director at Polyfoam. “In 2013, revenues climbed to HUF 6.3 billion (€20.7 million)—our first increase in six years—resulting in a profit of over €2 million.”
Strong Export Focus to 35 Global Markets
Approximately 96% of Polyfoam’s production is exported, underscoring the company’s global footprint. France and Germany remain the company’s top export destinations, contributing significantly to sales across a network that spans 35 international markets.
The latest facility upgrade not only enhances production capacity but also supports the company's export-driven growth strategy, positioning Polyfoam as a key supplier of engineered foam solutions across Europe.
