ArcelorMittal Poland has partnered with Linde Gaz Polska to construct a hydrogen production facility at its Krakow branch. This PLN 100 million (approximately $24 million) investment aims to supply hydrogen to two galvanizing lines, enhancing the plant's operational efficiency and environmental performance.
Design work for the facility is currently in progress, with hydrogen production expected to commence by the end of 2026. The plant will produce hydrogen from natural gas, aligning with ArcelorMittal's broader decarbonization strategy.
This initiative is part of ArcelorMittal Poland's ongoing efforts to modernize its operations and reduce environmental impact. Since 2004, the company has invested nearly PLN 2.5 billion in its Krakow facilities, focusing on product quality improvement and environmental sustainability.
The collaboration with Linde Gaz Polska, a leader in hydrogen production and distribution, ensures the implementation of advanced technologies and operational safety in the new facility.
By integrating hydrogen into its galvanizing processes, ArcelorMittal Poland aims to enhance production efficiency and contribute to the steel industry's transition towards more sustainable practices.
