PepsiCo has unveiled its largest solar energy project in Poland, a 3.5-MW photovoltaic (PV) farm located in the Lower Silesia province. This renewable energy initiative marks a significant step toward the company's sustainability objectives.
The solar farm, situated in Swiete, spans 2 hectares and features over 6,000 bifacial PV modules installed during the project's first phase. The clean energy generated will power PepsiCo's newly built production facility, responsible for producing iconic brands like Lay's and Doritos. According to factory CEO Tomasz Bronny, the solar farm will produce 2.8 GWh annually, covering 24% of the facility's energy needs, which total 11.7 GWh per year.
PepsiCo's commitment to renewable energy in Poland is evident, with PLN 22 million invested in green initiatives this year alone. This project is the company’s fourth PV installation in the country and aligns with its strategy to integrate sustainable energy solutions into operations.
Looking ahead, PepsiCo plans to expand its renewable energy footprint further. Artem Polienov, a member of PepsiCo Poland's management, announced intentions to add an additional 3 MW of PV capacity by 2025. This expansion underscores PepsiCo's dedication to environmental responsibility and energy efficiency in Poland and beyond.
