The EBRD has sold its equity stake in the Hungarian automotive group Rába Magyar Vagon- és Gépgyár Rt. The 10.85 per cent-stake was sold at the Budapest Stock Exchange on Wednesday, following a ten-year involvement by the Bank with Rába.
The Bank bought its stake in Rába in 1997 and was part of the successful privatisation and restructuring of the Hungarian company based in the west Hungarian city of Győr..
The EBRD continues its operations in Hungary and its focus in the future will be on areas where higher risk products like structured debt, mezzanine and equity can support projects and in new sectors such as energy efficiency and energy security, healthcare, securitisation and public/private partnerships.
