Cemex, a leader in the global building materials industry, has inaugurated a newly renovated concrete plant in the Czech Republic, marking a significant upgrade in its operations. The facility, situated in Prague-Libuš, has been operational since the late 1990s but underwent a closure in 2018 for a major reconstruction.
The plant's comprehensive overhaul aligns it with the latest advancements in modern construction technology. It now boasts the capability to process five different types of cement and various admixtures, including Cemex's eco-friendly Vertua concrete range. The facility is also equipped to handle recycled aggregates.
A key feature of the renovation is the plant's ability to recycle residual concrete by separating aggregates and sand for reuse, underscoring Cemex's commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the plant has been upgraded with cutting-edge filters and has been insulated with special sandwich panels, enhancing its environmental compatibility and ensuring quieter operations.
Ruediger Kuhn, VP of Materials Central Europe at Cemex, expressed enthusiasm about the reopening, highlighting the plant's strategic location near Prague's city center and the upcoming Prague Metro D line construction. The substantial investment in the site reaffirms Cemex's dedication to maintaining a strong and innovative presence in the Czech Republic's building materials sector.
