Butternut Box, a British pet food manufacturer, and PsiBufet, a Polish pet food company, are joining forces to enhance their distribution capabilities across Europe with a new production site.
New Production Facility in Katowice Special Economic Zone
The upcoming production plant, spanning nearly 40,000 sqm, will be located in the Katowice Special Economic Zone, just 80 km west of Kraków. This facility, to be constructed by logistics firm CTP, is set to be fully operational by mid-2025.
David Nolan, Founder and CEO of Butternut Box, commented, “Production at CTPark Zabrze will allow us to deliver fresh food even faster to hundreds of thousands of dogs in Germany and other mainland European countries.”
Strategic Market and Expansion
Poland has become a pivotal market for Butternut Box, which acquired PsiBufet a year ago to strengthen its European presence. Nolan expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted that Poland is becoming a regional hub for our business.”
The new factory will be partially funded by the £280 million (€329.2M/$357.5M) capital investment received last year.
Ideal Location and Workforce
PsiBufet founder Piotr Wawrysiuk highlighted the strategic advantages of the Upper Silesia region, including a large market of highly skilled workers, well-developed infrastructure, and proximity to the A1 and A4 motorways for rapid deliveries. Wawrysiuk also acknowledged the role of public aid in selecting the site.
Increased Production Capacity
The new facility in Zabrze will significantly boost production capacity, offering 30% more than Butternut Box’s current manufacturing site in Doncaster, UK. Wawrysiuk explained to GlobalPETS that this expansion will better meet the growing demand for fresh dog food across Europe.
This strategic move positions Butternut Box and PsiBufet to better serve their European customers with faster delivery times and increased production efficiency.
