Lasselsberger Ceramics Romania, the esteemed manufacturer of CESAROM ceramic tiles, is set to make a substantial investment of EUR 166 million in a new ceramic tiles plant in Romania. The company is projecting a 12% increase in turnover for 2022, building on its 2021 performance where it saw a 4% increase in turnover compared to the previous year.
Impressive Growth and Future Plans
In 2021, Lasselsberger Ceramics Romania achieved a significant milestone with a 6% increase in the volume of tiles and faience sold, reaching approximately 40 million square meters. For 2022, the company has earmarked over 2 million euros for continued investments, primarily focusing on developing a ceramic tile rectification line and launching new product ranges utilizing this advanced technology.
Innovative Showroom and Product Launches
A key highlight for this year is the opening of a new CESAROM showroom in Bucharest, introducing an innovative concept in tiles and faience. Additionally, CESAROM plans to launch 150 new ceramic tile models from its Cluj-Napoca factory, including large formats, rectified porcelain tiles, super glossy tiles, and special pieces like porcelain mosaics and plinths.
Record Productivity and New Collections
Petrișor Grindeanu, General Manager of Lasselsberger Ceramics Romania, noted the record productivity achieved last year, which facilitated the successful launch of new tile collections. In 2021, the company also introduced CESAROM safe+, Romania's first antibacterial ceramic tiles, showcasing their commitment to research and innovation. For 2022, the focus remains on technology investments and offering top-tier tile solutions to customers, aiming for a 12% increase in turnover.
Market Trends and Consumer Insights
The most sought-after products in CESAROM's 2021 portfolio were porcelain tiles, with the 60×30 cm format being particularly popular. Collections such as Canada, Caucaso, Crust, Granito, Move, Tanum, and Woodstyle, inspired by wood, stone, and cement, led the sales. The average budget for CESAROM tiles increased to 3500-4000 lei in 2021, reflecting larger plated surfaces and rising prices due to increased energy and raw material costs.
Regional Sales and Market Growth
Major Romanian cities like Bucharest, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași, and Timișoara were top regions for CESAROM sales in 2021. The overall ceramic tile market in Romania grew by approximately 6% in 2021, valued at around 210 million euros and covering 40 million square meters. Despite an anticipated 10-15% decrease in volume for 2022, a slight increase in market value is expected.
Lasselsberger Ceramics Romania continues to lead the industry with its strategic investments, innovative products, and a strong commitment to meeting consumer demands.
