Our expectations were exceeded considerably”, said Heiner Wemhöner, managing director of Wemhöner Surface Technologies GmbH & Co. KG. Only 4 years after the grand opening of the Wemhöner production plant in Changzhou, China, 160 km northwest of Shanghai, the company Wemhoener (Changzhou) Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has now doubled their production and office area. In addition the number of employees increased from 20 at the beginning to now 90 employees – with upward trend.
More than 200 international guests attended the glamorous expansion ceremony on 18th November 2011. Among them was Dr. Wolfgang Röhr, German consul general in Shanghai. Xufeng He, director of the Chinese Wemhöner production plant who worked with the company since “first hour”, welcomed customers and business partners mainly from China and Malaysia as well as prominent politicians from the city and the whole country.
“We now dispose of 7.000 m² useful area, 6.000 m² of that for the production of machines and plants”, said Heiner Wemhöner in his function as managing director of the Wemhöner Holding GmbH.
In the summer of 2007, Wemhöner started its engagement in the province of Jiangsu cautiously with 3.500 m². In the course of the year Wemhoener Changzhou doubled its turnover to more than 90 million RMB (more than 10 million Euro). “The costs for the extension – approx. 10 million RMB – have been generated in China”, said Uwe Berghahn, managing director of the headquarters in Herford. “With this first production plant outside of Germany, Wemhöner’s competitiveness is raised sustainably, so Uwe Berghahn.
Not only the steady growth of Wemhöner in Changzhou is very impressive, but also the architectural design of the building including the production hall. The whole production area is light-flooded due to a surrounding glass front. The office area is built on red free-mounted column triads leaving a very futuristic impression.
„We consider this as the basis for a further expansion of the market leadership”, proclaimed Mr. Wemhöner and Mr. Berghahn unanimously.
