UK fintech leader Tide is accelerating its global growth by expanding its technology centre in Lithuania, with plans to create 60 to 70 new engineering roles over the next three years. The company is strengthening its presence in Vilnius as part of a wider strategy to scale its backend and mobile development teams in a remote-first model.
Tide’s Lithuanian tech centre, officially opened in 2024, has quickly become a core contributor to the company’s product development and international operations. It supports Tide’s fast-growing SME user base across the UK, India, Germany and France, working alongside existing engineering hubs in Serbia and Romania.
The centre already includes 34 engineers who joined through Tide’s successful collaboration with Architus, a technology partner specialising in high-performance engineering and product teams across the UK and the Baltics. This partnership has enabled Tide to rapidly scale teams across key areas such as payments, open banking, credit, and identity and access management.
Tide recently secured a $120 million strategic investment led by TPG, valuing the business at $1.5 billion. This funding will drive Tide’s next phase of expansion, including the growth of the Lithuanian tech hub and increased investment in AI-powered product innovation for SMEs.
Since early 2022, Architus has played a critical role in supporting Tide’s rapid growth, offering deep expertise in technology and product development while helping attract top engineering talent. By September 2024, 30 Architus engineers had fully transitioned into Tide Lithuania (Tide Platform Ltd Lithuanian Branch), marking the foundation of Tide’s long-term commitment to the region.
Why Lithuania?
Lithuania has become one of Europe’s standout fintech destinations, combining strong engineering talent with a thriving innovation ecosystem. Tide’s leadership cites the country’s skilled workforce and supportive business environment as key reasons behind the expansion.
