The Czech National Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka has officially opened, offering a striking display of Czech innovation, tradition, and artistic excellence. The opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking representatives from both the Czech Republic and Japan, celebrating the deepening cultural and economic ties between the two nations.
Positioned at the heart of the expo grounds, the CZK 240 million pavilion, designed by Apropos Architects, is a bold architectural statement. It features a glass spiral intertwined with timber sourced from Czech forests, symbolizing the country’s commitment to sustainability, craftsmanship, and technological sophistication.
Art, Design, and Czech Cuisine with a Twist
Visitors can experience a unique fusion of Czech culture and modern design, including:
A restaurant serving Pilsner beer and Czech-Asian fusion cuisine
Interiors and uniforms designed by acclaimed fashion designer Jan Černý
A playful mascot, René the Green, honoring legendary Czech glass artist René Roubíček
Inside, the exhibition pays homage to the artistic legacy of Alfons Mucha, with monumental glass sculptures, light installations, and immersive art that highlights the natural beauty of the Czech landscape. Over 200 Czech artists will be showcased throughout the expo, culminating in Czech National Day on July 24, which commemorates Mucha’s birth and celebrates the country’s artistic influence.
A Cultural and Business Platform
Beyond art and architecture, the Czech pavilion also serves as a strategic business platform. Czech companies such as CTP are using Expo 2025 to promote investment opportunities, highlight technological capabilities, and position the Czech Republic as a modern, forward-looking partner in global trade and innovation.
“The Czech pavilion represents not only our rich cultural heritage but also our readiness to collaborate on the global stage,” said a Czech trade representative at the event.
