Romania has received almost EUR 19 bn of the total commitments and the EIB group’s provision of over EUR 1.3 bn
This achievement was attained by the remarkable support received from the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).
EIF provided guarantees and equity investment valued at over EUR 0.5bn; it is expected to make arrangements for EUR 1.1 bn worth of investments and additional efforts to support 2,400 SMEs as well as the provision of 19,000 jobs last year alone.
The European Investment Bank Group, which includes the European Investment Bank(EIB) and its subsidiary, the European Investment Fund(EIF), have made available close to EUR 1.9bn as new loans, guarantees and equity investments in Romania in 2017. More than EUR 1.3 bn in loans were provided by EIB and EUR 551m from EIF as guarantees and equity investments in small businesses to sustain their growth. The EIB Group’s support for Romania, therefore, represents about 1.04% of the country’s GDP. This puts Romania at the fifth position among the EU member states in this regard, and above the EU average of 0.46%. The group concluded four operations under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) as a part of the European investment plans. |
