IMA Schelling Expands Automation Capabilities with Acquisition of Carmet Automazioni and Blumenbecker Engineering
IMA Schelling has recently enhanced its automation expertise by acquiring two specialist companies, Carmet Automazioni and Blumenbecker Engineering System Technology. This strategic move allows IMA Schelling to present a more comprehensive array of automation, handling, and transport solutions to its clientele.
The addition of an Italian and a Polish company to the IMA Schelling Group marks a significant step in the company's mission to be the leading provider of automation solutions in the furniture industry.
Carmet Automazioni SRL, based in Treviso, Italy, boasts over five decades of experience in creating industrial automation and handling technologies. Their expertise, particularly in multi-blade saw cutting technology, is a valuable complement to IMA Schelling's product offerings. Continuing to operate under its well-known name and brand, Carmet Automazioni's team of 30 skilled professionals is now integrated into the IMA Schelling Group.
Blumenbecker Engineering System Technology, hailing from Katowice, Poland, has a strong background in consulting, planning, designing, software development, system integration, and switchgear construction. As a recognized leader in automation and robotics solutions in Poland, the company shares a similar customer base with IMA Schelling, ensuring a seamless integration. Retaining its independence, the company, with about 60 employees, will henceforth be known as IMA Schelling Polska Automation.
Maximilian Lehner, Managing Director of IMA Schelling, highlights that these acquisitions align with the company’s strategic vision initiated in 2016 following the merger of IMA Klessmann and Schelling Anlagenbau. He emphasizes that the primary focus of these strategic decisions is to enhance customer value. With the integration of these new partners, IMA Schelling is excited to offer an expanded product range and deeper expertise to its customers.

Lübbecke. To be able to meet fast-growing market requirements in Russia optimally, Lübbecke-based specialist for complex wood processing machines – IMA Klessmann GmbH – established a sales and service branch with 10 employees in Moscow beginning of July.
Until then sales and service activities in Russia and the former GUS companies were organised by the IMA headquarter in Lübbecke. In recent years about 300 machines have been installed in Russia and bordering countries. According to the „Federal Statistical Office“ the Russian furniture market grew by 31 percent in 2007 alone. „For us the rapid market development in Russia was the go sign to concentrate activities in Russia and to reorganise them“, said sales manager Markus von Reden. „We want to serve our customers promptly with our local staff.
Especially in territorial states like Russia with economic regions being a long way away from each other it is important to give customers qualified sales and service support promptly. At the same time we want to further enhance previous cooperation with our Russian sales partners.“ According to Markus von Reden, the demand of wood processing machines and lines is continuously increasing. About 6,000 manufacturers in the furniture sector represent a big potential for IMA Russia. „In Russia the brand IMA is already known. Therefore it is important to offer our services directly from Russia in future”, said sales manager von Reden

The enhancement of IMAGIC presented at LIGNA 2011 is a future orientated modular machine range.
The enhancement of IMAGIC presented at LIGNA 2011 is a future orientated modular machine range. The machine is designed for efficient operation to handle small, medium and large lot and batch sizes. Its application areas range from individual machines to solutions with one or more flexible drilling machines. Far more they also can be interlinked with our machines from the through-feed product range, the handling and transport technology that we offer to achieve a full production line.
IMAGIC drilling machines can be perfectly adapted to suit customized manufacturing processes. They are compact and space-saving, as well. This is one good reason why an increasing number of industrial manufacturers in the furniture and woodworking industry integrate those flexible drilling systems into their in-house production processes. Over 30 solutions have been sold and been in operation worldwide since the first machine was delivered in 2007.
With the IMAGIC drilling machines, IMA meets the demand for supplying and offering all you need in the form of a “one-step solution”: IMAGIC drilling machines fulfill all the important tasks that are required along the process chain (Cutting, Edgebanding and Material Handling) for the subsequent assembly of the furniture.
The success of the IMAGIC in the market is both a technical ambition and a challenge for our R&D Team to continually enhance the system by introducing new features. IMAGIC drilling machines are designed for horizontal and vertical drilling of rectangular workpieces from the bottom and top. Through high cycle times and the ideal machine configuration with interchangeable drilling gear boxes, economical drilling processes are achieved. The IMAGIC is a machine that offers high process reliability and high performance, even in its standard configuration. IMA sees a big potential for the IMAGIC drilling machines in the project business. The company expects the number of machines sold in the market to double by 2014. An important key in this context is the replacement of old drilling machines in existing production lines with the new IMAGIC technologies and solutions. This ensures considerable competitive advantages at low investment costs.
Individual features ensure competitive advantages
The system can be supplemented with numerous add-ons and thus be swiftly and easily adapted to different production conditions, whether set-up time reductions or perform-ance enhancements. An overview is given below.
