Nokian Tyres from Finland is building a passenger car tyre factory in Romania in the northwestern city of Oradea. After Nokian Tyres pulled out of Russia the company has looked to diversified its manufacturing capabilities by moving production to Central Eastern Europe (CEE). Nokian Tyres will invest 650 million euro in the plant, its expected to employ about 500 and construction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024 and production to start in 2025.
The factory in Oradea will concentrate on the production of larger rim size passenger and SUV tyres that will be primarily sold in the Central European market. A world-class manufacturing facility in Europe is a key step in getting additional capacity and creating a balanced manufacturing platform as we start building the new Nokian Tyres without Russia," Nokian Tyres president and CEO Jukka Moisio said.
