Sumika Polymer Compounds Europe which develops, manufactures and offers a wide range of thermoplastic polyolefin and elastome will set up a new company in Poland in 2021. Sumika Polymer Compounds Sp.z.o.o (SPCP) will enable the parent company to cover the whole of Central Europe and thereby reduce carbon emissions by being able to deliver locally.
The new branch line will be located in Poznan which will also give the company good access to the markets of Germany and Czechia.
Demand for PP compounds in the area is expected to continue to grow solidly with the spread of electric vehicles due to the tightening of environmental regulations. A new production site of about 5,500 square metres will be dedicated to compounded polypropylene manufacturing.
This investment will provide 30,000 tonnes of additional capacity for SPC Group and will increase European production capacity to 170,000 tonnes per year. The first step of the establishment will enable the hiring of about 30 new employees in Poland and the setting up of two compounding lines. The implementation includes the building of silos for the material storage and transfer. Start of production is scheduled to begin first quarter of 2022.
