12 of the largest industrial companies in Poland have agreed to Partner with Bechtel to support the Polish nuclear sector, some of the companies including general contractor Budimex, Hitachi Energy Poland, ILF Consulting Polska, Mostostal Warzsawa and Polimex Mostosta signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the engineering firm in the presence of the US Ambassador Mark Brzezinski.
The US engineering firm Bechtel has been chosen to help build two new nuclear plants in Poland. The deal, which is worth an estimated $10bn, will see the development of two more nuclear reactors and create thousands of jobs in the process. Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that the project is a "vital part" of his country's plans to reduce its reliance on coal and boost its economy. With nuclear set to become one of the cheapest forms of energy generation, it's no surprise that countries around the world are turning to this technology as a way to meet their future energy needs.
US engineering firm Bechtel has been selected to build the first nuclear plant in Poland. The company will partner with Westinghouse Electric Company, who will provide its AP1000 reactors for use in the new plants.
