This is the latest acquisition in a series of investments to expand its business. The company has already invested in an additional timber plant, three mills and four sawmills, as well as acquiring other assets such as the state-owned forestry subsidiary LLC Khabarovsk Timber Company. The acquisition will increase production capacity for veneers and plywood by 40%, to 60 million square meters per year. Russia's largest industrial timber producer, Segezha Group (SEGZ), has acquired the majority stake in Russian and European timber company Inter Forest Rus. The acquisition increases SEGZ's annual allowable cut to 23.6 million cubic meters and will make them one of the world’s 10 largest lease-holders of forest land with 16 million hectares under management.
