A 4 party letter of intent has been signed signalling a cooperation between, UPM Chudovo, Hasslacherles, Ikea Novgorod and the Novgorod regional administration in order to secure wood sources for their Novgorod region sites in Russia.
Hasslacherles will increase the supply of various wood types and glued timber beams and other to UPM and IKEA, achieved through leasing a forest in the Novgorod region, giving them access to the coniferous species in that area. All 4 parties will make their own agreements relating to the actual terms of sale.
CFO of Hasslacher Norica Timber, spoke of how happy the company is to be continuing and deepening a successful business relationship with both UPM and IKEA. There are now more opportunities to sell on the lumber from the region which ranges from birch veneer to Aspen.
UMP Plywood Vice President, Mika Kekki, who runs their Productions and Operations division spoke of how the 4 party collaboration is a real win-win situation, and dovetails well with UPMs policy of seeking active business partners to promote regional business endeavours.
