HAWE Hydraulik, a global manufacturer of mechatronic and hydraulic systems, is strengthening its international operations with a new production plant in the KlaipÄda Free Economic Zone (FEZ). The company is preparing to launch operations this autumn in the newly built FlexStart 03 facility, where it will produce hydraulic systems for the rapidly growing European wind energy market.
HAWE has signed a lease for 4,000 square meters of production and office space, occupying half of the FlexStart 03 building. The German company expects to begin production almost immediately after construction is completed and plans to grow its KlaipÄda team to around 45 specialists by 2027. Recruitment has already begun.
Why KlaipÄda?
According to the company, KlaipÄda stood out due to its excellent logistics advantages, particularly its proximity to the Port of KlaipÄda and strong air connections. These factors will allow HAWE to optimise transport routes and ensure faster delivery to customers across Europe. The region’s strong pool of skilled engineering talent and the professional support from local authorities and KlaipÄda FEZ management were also decisive in the expansion decision.
“We are strengthening our presence not only in Asia and America but also across Europe. This new site will allow us to serve our wind industry customers faster and increase our competitiveness.”
Wolfgang Sochor, CEO, HAWE Hydraulik
Boost to KlaipÄda’s Renewable Energy and High-Value Manufacturing Sectors
KlaipÄda FEZ CEO Eimantas Kiudulas highlighted that HAWE’s arrival reinforces several strategic priorities for the region, including high-value manufacturing and renewable energy technologies.
“The arrival of a global industry leader confirms KlaipÄda’s competitiveness and potential. It supports the transformation of supply chains, skills, and the region’s energy landscape.”

Strengthening Lithuania’s Renewable Energy Manufacturing Ecosystem
Elijus Äivilis, CEO of Invest Lithuania, welcomed HAWE’s decision as a major contribution to the country’s renewable energy ambitions.
“Lithuania is committed to reaching 100 percent renewable electricity by 2028. HAWE Hydraulik choosing KlaipÄda FEZ strengthens our renewable energy manufacturing base and supports the growth of high value-added industry in Lithuania.”
