Around 410 million euro will go to the small and medium-sized enterprises in Poland.
The funds are for firms intending to employ new technology in their businesses by 2013 and part of the government’s stimulus plan for entrepreneurs.
The financial support has been made possible with the introduction of a special loans programme, which will facilitate the proliferation of products and services manufactured with the aid of innovative technologies in Poland, says deputy prime minister and Minister of the Economy Waldemar Pawlak.
President of the Polish Banking Association, Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz admits that up until now entrepreneurs interested in implementing modern technology couldn’t count on support from the state.
He cautions, however, that innovation entails risk:
"New projects face a larger risk of failure. Yet this move is a conscious policy of the state that demonstrates that it is worth supporting these enterprises so that we can offer quality products manufactured in Poland," he said.
Companies that decide to take the loan can count on a bonus in the form of a partial settlement by the state-owned Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego providing banking services and products within the public finance sector. The loan applications may be filed as of July.
