As per the records of the residential construction and renovation market sector there has been an overall positive influence on the DIY market within Poland (the summation of the sales related to construction, renovation, decorative items, garden supplies and tools bought by either consumers or on a corporate scale) has shown an increase of 5.2% to a value of PLN 54.6 billion.
The DIY market has achieved considerable growth which is evident from the sales figures of the major stakeholders such as Castorama, Leroy Merlin and OBI and the residential construction market which recorded its best decade figures in the past year. An important contributary factor was renovations, occurring not only within residential spaces with the assistance of renovation professionals but also in non-residential settings as well. There has been an increasing trend by employees to pay more attention on their work environment, professional employers make considerable investments on enhancing the work environment.
It is important to note the different stages of the Polish DIY market. Bankruptcy of Praktiker demonstrated that kareger cities have been overrun by chain stores such as Castorama, Leroy Merlin or OBI, contributing to approximately one quarter of the whole DIY market. But on smaller cities and towns, companies such as Mrówka, Bricomarche, or upcoming AMC construction Majster network consisting of newly established PszczóĹka network.
