Japanese car manufacturer, Magyar Suzuki has announced that from 2020 only cars with hybrid engines are to be produced at it’s Hungarian plant Esztergom outside Budapest, for sale in the EU markets.
Zsuzsanna Bonnár-Csonka, Suzuki’s head of communications confirmed the move. Speaking to MTI, the Hungarian news agency, he said that the company had already invested heavily in the plant in preparation for the new hybrid models. This multi-million euro investment means that this year 70% of the plant’s total output will be hybrid models with 85% of those expected to be exported.
The company currently employs 3,200 people, with a revenue of €1.95billion and a domestic revenue of over €280million.
