Gränges AB has signed an agreement to purchased Aluminium Konin from the Boryszew Group. The purchase sees the Polish company, a producer of rolled aluminium, join the Swedish company who is a major supplier of rolled aluminium to niche markets including heat exchanger applications. The buy-out is worth €218-million.
With its latest acquisition, Gränges has expanded and strengthened its position in Europe, enabling it to compete in many niche market arenas and provide transport solutions. The rolling mill in Konin, Poland that is currently operated by Aluminium Konin offers multiple products and has a production line turn-out of around 100 kiltotonnes annually.
According to Gränges’ CEO Johan Menckel, Aluminium Konin's strategic location and advanced opera-tions make it a valuable addition to their own business in the region. It is anticipated that the purchase will not only mean that Gränges will continue to grow financially but will also be have a greater impact in reducing its environmental impact and carbon footprint in the region.
The acquisition is currently awaiting regulatory approval.
