A new production facility has been opened in Lodz, Poland by the Finnish company Stalatube. The stainless steel producer intends that the new plant in central Poland will increase its competitive by speeding delivery times in Central Europe.
The plant will be producing tube and profile products for the international markets and has been strategically located at the intersection of two motorways.
Stalatube is looking to use this plant to increase the market profile of its products with end-users within the European region. The company's largest exports currently go to Germany, which is located around 300km from Lodz.
The new 9,000m² facility has received over €7-million which has been invested in new manufacturing technology which has led to automation on a large scale, a reduction in environmental impact and increased safety and efficiency The plant has 2 production lines to cover both tube components and welded tubes. More investments are planned by 2020 and it is anticipated that the facility will also produce ready-made welded products for end-users.
As the company moves over to manufacturing within Poland they are hoping to leverage the location to increase shipping times and take full advantage of the large number of export sales they receive from within the EU. Poland is now one of Europe's largest stainless steel market.
Production is aimed globally as well as within the EU and the company looks to produce high quality welded tubes and profiles with speedy delivery aimed at both wholesale and end-users. By the end of 2019, the company anticipates that the plant will be fully operational and running at full capacity, with a workforce of 30 people.
