A 4000m2 plant expansion has been announced by Osypka s.r.o. to extend its medical product moulding capacity. The new site is located in the east of the Czech Republic at Odry and represents part of an almost €4million investment by its parent company Osypka AG. The company, based in Rheinfelden, Germany, decided to make the investment as the Czech factory outgrew the capacity of its existing site.
Over the last two years, Osypka s.r.o. has been working in cooperation with the parent company and it’s affiliate, the German based Oscomed GmbH of Sonneberg in making a range of disposable sterile products..
The new Odry plant will be situated on industrial land which has been purchased from the municipal authority. As development moves into the second phase, the expansion will include a new 500m2 clean room facility. According to Osykpa, this is to be used for the production of sterile products which will be used for open wound care, cardiology and endoscopy.
The Czech company has a workforce of 50 in the Odry plant and this is anticipated to see a growth to around 150 by the end of 2020. The company exports its medical products to 60 countries worldwide, including the USA, Japan and China.
Founder and managing director of Osypka s.r.o., Kurt Eva, says the plant will provide both the best capacity and excellent working conditions allowing the company to continue to satisfy its customers and maintain supply to the expanding medical technology markets.
Osypka AG's CEO Achim Kitschmann, sees the plant as an opportunity for further expansion of capacity in the Odry factory, meaning that they can develop new business within the OEM area. He said that the company remains very confident that they can use their technical expertise to improve and advance the plant within the Czech Republic to consolidate and improve their position as a leading supplier of medical devices for class II products.
