Segezha’s Paper and Package Division which is part of the Segezha Group (Sistema JSFC) based in Petrozavodsk has achieved the ISO 50001 conformity certificate in February 2019 after participating in the international certification for “Energy Management Systems”, the company has announced.
At the end of 2018 a certification audit was carried out at the Paper and Package Division by TMS RUS LLC representing TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH, an external auditor and a global field management systems certification leader.
Preparations began during 2018 as employees of Segezha PPM JSC, Sokolsk PPM PSC and, Segezha Packaging LLC both based in Karelia and in Salsk in the Rostov Region started work on the framework of the IMS – the Integrating Management System – development program.
In order to reach the requirements of ISO 50001 the Segezha Group enterprises had to establish policies which would bring about improvements in energy efficiency. This involved assessing and defining the critical areas for improvement, understanding which factors directly impacted on energy use, forecasting energy consumption and formulating plans of investment, improvement plans, equipment procurement, the use of raw materials and services in order to present a clear picture and facilitate decision making processes to bring about the necessary compliance to the standard.
