According to a new announcement, Valmet has received an order for OptiConcept M containerboard making lines as well as Old Corrugated Container (OCC) lines from Mondi. Complete with a winder, the order is for their Slovakian mill in Ruzomberok with PM 19 expected to start in late 2020.
Including Valmet’s automation solutions, PM 19 will be aiming to combine printability, strength, and aesthetic in a new containerboard grade, kraft top white. With one eye on environmental impact, it will offer the best of both worlds; economic benefits of recycled fibre bottom layer and appearance advantages of a white virgin fibre top layer.
Within the delivery, Valmet will provide an approach flow system, a hardwood stock line, a save-all and broke system, and an OCC line. For the latter, the OptiRefiber recycled fibre line will offer;
• Fine screening systems (with fractionation) • Pulper feeding and vertical pulper systems • Thickening disc filters (long and short fibre lines) • Low and high consistency (LC and HC) cleaning systems • Long fibre dispersion system
With regards to the high-capacity containerboard machine, this will come with an OptiWin Drum two-drum winder and an OptiConcept M containerboard machine; this machine itself will have everything from reel to headbox. With the winder, a higher capacity will be possible thanks to the Duel Unwind and its one-minute parent roll change. What’s more, the OptiAir high-humidity hood works alongside various ventilation features, a supply system for sizer, and a surface starch preparation system.
