Car production has escalated dramatically since last year, with General Motors Poland in Gliwice leading the way with the highest results, reports Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
The plant shipped out an estimated 16,000 cars in May, over 21 percent more than the same time last year. Since the beginning of the year, the factory has produced 80,600 cars (a 32 percent increase since 2010).
Volkswagen’s plant in PoznaĹ is a similar success story, assembling over 14,000 vehicles in May, 15 percent more than in the same period in 2010. The next few months also seem optimistic for these factories, as an estimated 867,000-904,000 cars are expected to be produced in 2011, almost 5 percent more than last year, according to AutomotiveSuppliers.pl.
These projected results are almost at the level of the record results of 2008, before the economic crisis.
